NIPFN Kenya participated in the 6th NIPN Global Gathering in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 22nd to 25th October 2024. The global gathering which is themed “NIPN for the Future: Sustainability in an Evolving Policy Environment” brought together nine NIPN implementing countries. Discussions focused on supporting sustainability plans, advocating for domestic funding, and promoting NIPN at global and national levels, with particular focus on countries with devolved governance and advancing the NIPN initiative. The Kenyan delegation was headed KIPPRA by Ag. Executive Director, Dr Eldah Onsomu who participated in a panel discussion on NIPN sustainability.
NIPFN Kenya discussed its role in implementing the NIPN project and output developed. The project also participated in meetings with delegations from Ethiopia and Lao PDR on the sustainability of NIPN platforms and the exchange visit to Lao PDR to learn from each other’s sub-national roll-out experiences and gather insights for implementation in their respective countries.
The project team also met the World Food Programme (WFP) Ethiopia Country office team to discuss the framework for Cost of Hunger in Africa (COHA) study in Kenya.
The global gathering concluded with a review of highlights and country requests, and closing remarks.
