WRITING WORKSHOP FOR THE SOCIAL PROTECTION POLICY PAPER

The report drafting workshop on a special paper reviewing nutrition-sensitive targeting processes in National Cash Transfer Programmes in Kenya was held from 27th to 30th June 2022. The specific objectives of the workshop included; identifying social protection pathways to nutrition in Kenya; examining the selection process of beneficiary households and /or individuals; assessing inclusion and exclusion gaps in targeting of beneficiaries.

The writing workshop had representatives from different Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA’s) namely;
• Ministry of Public Service, Gender, Senior Citizens Affair and Special Programmes; State Department of Social Protection, Senior Citizens Affairs and Special Programmes.
• The National Treasury and Planning
• Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS)
• Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA)
During the workshop, the multi-stakeholder team were able to draft the introduction of the policy paper, the objectives, problem statement and literature review.
As part of the next steps, multi-sector meetings will be held to discuss preliminary results of the three objectives and give policy recommendations.
